Conditions for unemployment benefit

To receive unemployment benefit (işsizlik ödeneği), you must have lost your job through no choice or fault of your own, have worked without interruption for the last 120 days before leaving, and have paid unemployment insurance contributions for at least 600 days in the last three years. The application is made to İŞKUR (the Turkish Employment Agency) within 30 days of leaving the job; if you apply late, the delay is deducted from the payment period.

The daily benefit is 40% of the daily average of gross earnings over the last four months and cannot exceed 80% of the gross minimum wage. Only stamp duty is deducted from the benefit. The duration depends on premium days:600 days → 6 months, 900 days → 8 months, 1,080 days → 10 months. An employee who resigns for just cause (such as unpaid wages) can also receive the benefit.
