How many days of annual leave?
An employee who has worked for at least one year, including the probation period, is entitled to paid annual leave (yıllık izin). The entitlement depends on length of service: 14 days for 1–5 years (including 5), 20 days for 5–15 years and 26 days for 15 years or more. Employees aged 18 or under and 50 or over cannot be given less than 20 days (Labour Code (İş K.) art. 53). A longer leave may be agreed in the employment contract or a collective agreement.
Whatever the reason the employment contract ends (including resignation), pay for unused leave is paid on the basis of the wage on the date the contract ends (art. 59). The limitation period for this claim starts on the date the contract ends and is five years.
