How is gross converted to net?
First, the 14% employee social security (SGK) contribution and the 1% unemployment insurance contribution are deducted from the gross wage. The remainder is the income tax base. Income tax is calculated with a progressive tariff on the base accumulated (cumulatively) since the start of the year, so the net wage may fall in later months of the year. Stamp duty of 0.759% is also deducted from the gross wage.
In 2026 the gross minimum wage is TRY 33,030.00. For all employees, the part of the wage corresponding to the minimum wage is exempt from income tax and stamp duty; this exemption is deducted from each month’s tax.
